Abstract

A brief description of the history of the theory of fluid flows development is given, an axiomatic analysis of the classical mechanics of liquids and solids is performed, taking into account the observability condition for the quantities being calculated. The governing equations are represented in the differential form of the laws of conservation of matter, momentum, energy and concentration of impurities. The system of governing equations for the mechanics of liquids is analyzed taking into account the compatibility condition using the methods of the theory of singular perturbations. The solutions of the governing system describing waves, vortices, and ligaments that are thin interfaces are compared with the results of numerical calculations and high resolution laboratory modeling of stratified flows.
