Focus and Scope

Interdisciplinary Journal of open systems evolution problems (JOSEP) was established in 2012. The journal is published by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

JOSEP is a peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to publishing research on the emergence and evolution of open, nonequilibrium dynamic natural systems. The journal serves as a platform for the scientific community, providing an opportunity to publish innovative theoretical, computational, and experimental studies that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of evolutionary processes. The journal is published twice a year.

The interdisciplinary journal of open systems evolution problems (JOSEP) publishes original research articles and review papers that contribute to a deeper understanding of the general patterns of structure formation and evolution in large systems studied across all fields of science, including physics, chemistry, biology, cosmology, geophysics, medicine, ecology, economics, sociology, and, more broadly, philosophy.

Key Metrics:

  • Initial check: approximately 4 weeks
  • Review policy: double-blind peer review
  • Average review time: 8–14 weeks
  • Acceptance rate: 85%

Indexing and Abstracting:

  • ROAD;
  • Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 Journal Scope

JOSEP covers a wide range of topics in theoretical and applied physics, chemistry, biology, cosmology, geophysics, sociology, medicine, economics, and philosophy in general, including, but not limited to:

Journal Topics:
✔ General patterns of structure formation and evolution in large systems studied across all fields of science;
✔ Studies of interaction mechanisms in various environments of living and non-living matter and societies;
✔ Approaches to the study of open, nonequilibrium dynamic systems;
✔ Laws of dynamics of interacting systems;
✔ Nonlinear methods for investigating system evolution processes;
✔ The roles of nonequilibrium and synergetic effects in the formation of any hierarchical systems and their evolutionary development;
✔ Applied aspects of research on open, nonequilibrium dynamic systems.

 Why Publish in JOSEP?

  • International Editorial Board – experts from different countries ensure diverse and high-quality peer review.
  • Rigorous Peer-Review Process – a double-blind review system is used, with at least two independent reviewers per manuscript.
  • Open Access Model – platinum open access (no publication fees), making all content freely available to the global scientific community.
  • Digital Archiving – long-term preservation of all published materials in reliable digital repositories.
  • Unique and Original Content – published materials are checked for originality, and the journal emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to studying natural evolutionary systems and processes, distinguishing it from other publications.
